This is an original B5 Japanese poster, printed in 2010, for the release of “The Secret World of Arrietty” (借りぐらしのアリエッティ).
Based on Mary Norton’s juvenile fantasy novel, The Borrowers, “The Secret World of Arrietty” tells the story of Arrietty, a young Borrower who lives under the floorboards of a typical household. She eventually befriends Sho, a human boy with a heart condition, who is living with Sadako (Sho’s great aunt). When Haru (Sadako’s maid) becomes suspicious of the floorboard’s disturbance, Arrietty and her family must escape detection, even if it means leaving their beloved home.
The Chirashi – or B5 posters – are a small promo poster similar to a herald or a flyer. Their measurements vary but the majority are about 18.2 cm x 25.7 cm. These are quite often printed with information on the back, as it’s the case here.
